A very common cause of knee pain in children and young athletes usually between the ages of 10 and 15.
It occurs due to a period of rapid growth combined with a high level of sporting activity.
Symptoms include pain at the tibial tuberosity (bony bit at the top of the shin), swelling and inflammation at the tibial tuberosity. Tenderness and pain worsening with activity.
Physiotherapy can help you manage the above symptoms during your disease progression giving you advice on appropriate rest and activity and to help promote the healing process. An exercise program will be given to allow you to do as much exercise as possible to get the optimum results from your training.
